After WWI, America was determined they would not enter into another "European War"! But politically, we were protesting Japan's invasion and domination of the Indonesian islands. The Japanese Admirals agreed--all except one--that since America's Pacific Fleet was all stationed at Pearl Harbor, one massive attack would wipe out our opposition. Only Admiral Yamamoto disagreed: "On the contrary! That would be like attacking a hornets' nest! And he was right! America declared war on Germany and Japan and launched into a two-front war!
