If high tax rates hurt the economy, then why did the post-WWII economy boom in the US?

The highest marginal tax rate was 91% even during the Republican Eisenhower administration, then went down to 70% after the tax cut proposed by JFK. That would last until Ronald Reagan cut them down further in the 1980s to just under 30%
